Project Based Learning

I have read, heard and practiced  a lot of classroom  methods but one of the most familiar to me is PBL. As soon as I read about it my whole school life came to my mind. I remember, when I was a pupil our teacher asked us to make presentations with posters about different topics, usually those related to environment. We used to make drawings and write quotes about nature and its importance, and later on make the presentations.
With the passing of time projects became as a part of us and that is the reason why I consider it as the best way to help us ameliorate in a particular subject.
To be more concrete PBL students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills in the context of doing an authentic, meaningful project.
Many students find schoolwork meaningless because they don't perceive a need to know what they're being taught. They are unmotivated by a teacher's suggestion that they should learn something because they'll need it later in life, for the next course, or simply because "it's going to be on the test." With a compelling student project, the reason for learning relevant material becomes clear: "I need to know this to meet the challenge I've accepted".
According to me a project should give students opportunities to build such 21st century skills as collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and the use of technology, which will serve them well in the workplace and life.
Since PBL it has been for a long time part of our classrooms and it still does so, I am very optimistic about its importance even in my future classes as a teacher. PBL is my favorite method and I hope that my future students will think the same as me...

  2. Hi there!
I guess we've misunderstood what PBL aims.Projects we used to do are those assignments we had to do once in a class/subject.
Imagine this,we used to do once in a school year doing for the whole year and organizing our learning on our researches about that topic. This os PBL.
Let us not fall in the trap of believing PBL consit of many projects in a class.
